Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Requirements:
    • For Semester/Year: Minimum 2.8 GPA or equivalent. Completion of at least one year of higher education at home institution for first, second, and third-year modules. Good academic standing after senior secondary (high) school for first-year modules only.
    • For Summer: Minimum 2.8 GPA or equivalent. Currently studying at a university: completion of a full year of study – not required.
  • English Language Proficiency:
    • If English is not your native language, evidence of English language proficiency is required.
    • Accepted qualifications include IELTS (Academic), TOEFL (iBT), and Duolingo English test.
    • Qualifications should be achieved within the past two years before the course starts.
    • For Semester/Year: If your current medium of teaching is in English, and you meet academic requirements, you fulfill English language requirements too.
    • For Summer: English language requirements apply irrespective of the medium of teaching.
  • Module Requirements:
    • Some modules have specific entry requirements. Check module pages before applying.
    • Modules should be approved by your home institution for credit transfer if they count towards your degree.

Placements

  • Placements can be a compulsory element of the course or known as a ‘sandwich’ year, lasting an academic year (minimum 40 weeks) and full-time (35-40 hours per week).
  • Most placements are paid, and students pay a reduced fee (20% of standard fees) during their placement year.
  • Sussex offers support through the Placements Preparation Programme, providing events, resources, and guidance on finding, applying, and interviewing for placements.
  • Students have access to employer events, workshops, weekly emails from the Sussex Placements Team, and a placements tracker to monitor progress.
  • International placements are available.
