Eligibility Criteria For University Canada West
General Requirements
- A minimum overall average of 70% (equivalent to a B- or 2.7 GPA) in all previous university studies as calculated by Western.
- No extensive academic difficulty at the university level.
- Proof of English Language proficiency if English is not your first language.
Program-Specific Requirements
- Each program may have specific high school course requirements for admission.
- Recommended high school courses are not mandatory for admission but may be needed for certain program courses.
- Supplemental requirements such as forms, portfolios, or auditions may be necessary for some programs.
Language Requirements
- All submitted documents must be in English.
- If transcripts are not in English, provide notarized literal English translations from a recognized, accredited source.

Application Process
- Apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).
- Upon application, you will receive an email instructing you to create a Western Student Center account.
- A To-Do List will be provided in your account with instructions on submitting required documents.
- Ensure documents, including transcripts from all attended institutions, are uploaded following provided instructions.
After Acceptance
- If you accept an offer, official documents, including final grades, must be sent directly from your university.
- In some cases, transcripts may be sent to World Education Services (WES) Canada for verification.
- Verified grades from WES must match previously provided grades; discrepancies may result in application consequences.
Already Completed a University Degree
- If you’ve completed a degree, you’re classified as a Special Student, not a Transfer Student.
Transfer Credits
- Some university courses may be eligible for transfer credit.
- Courses must be from recognized, accredited institutions with a minimum final grade of “C.”
- Transfer credits may be exact equivalency or generic credits, depending on the course.
- Assessments are done after accepting the offer, requiring official course descriptions or syllabi.
Degree Completion
- The time to complete your degree depends on transfer credits received.
- At least 10.0 credits must be completed on Western’s main campus, with 5.0 at the second-year level or above.
- Typically, a four-year bachelor’s degree requires 20.0 credits, but transfer credits may reduce this.
