Eligible Countries for MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship
Interested students from all parts of the world are eligible to apply for the YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship. Candidates who hold a United States Citizenship or are a permanent resident in the States are not eligible for a scholarship in their own country. Also, Canadian citizens wishing to study in Canada are also not eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria for mpower financing women in stem scholarship
- You should be accepted at or enrolled in a full- time degree program at an MPOWER partner institution in the US or Canada.
- Hold any of the below immigration statuses:
- F1 Visa or Green Card Holder or DACA recipient to study at a US partner college
- Permanent resident or a Canadian study permit holder to study at a Canadian partner college or university
- You do not need to be an MPOWER borrower to apply for the scholarship as long as you meet the eligibility criteria set forth above.

Application Process for MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship
- Visit the MPOWER Financing Website: Go to the official MPOWER Financing website and navigate to the scholarships section.
- Select the Women in STEM Scholarship: Find the Women in STEM Scholarship and review the detailed eligibility criteria and application requirements.
- Submit Your Application: Complete the online application form and submit along with a good essay.
- Prepare Your Documents: Gather all required documents mentioned above and any other supporting materials.
- Wait for the Response: If selected, you will be notified through telephone, email or other professional medium provided on your application.
- Submit the documents: Documents are to be submitted after you have been selected for the award.
Important Dates
The MPOWER Women in STEM applications are currently open and will end on December 31st, 2024 for the 2024- 25 session. The next round of applications will start once the award distribution of this one is finished. We’ll update you when the next dates are announced.
Selection process and criteria
The eligible candidates for MPOWER Women in STEM applications are screened and interviewed in the first round. This is a mass elimination round and for the next round, the remaining applications will be rated against each of the 4 selection criteria on a scale of 1-5 (equal weights applied). The top ten applications with the highest aggregate score will be further scrutinized and interviewed. The selection panel will recommend a winner to the CEO, who will make the final selection decision according to the aforementioned selection criteria. MPOWER will then reach out to the winner and request a copy of her passport and visa to confirm eligibility (gender and STEM field), as well as an acceptance letter and/or transcript to confirm she is enrolled/accepted at a partner university.
The winners are selected based on the following:
- The quality of your essay; whether it depicts your motive, goals and thoughts clearly or not.
- Writing skills in English
- Academic record or professional distinction (if applicable)
- Your potential to contribute in STEM fields
- You track record and/or potential as a role model and advocate for women and girls in STEM.
