Eligibility Criteria for the University of Waterloo

The Eligibility Criteria for the University of Waterloo is as follows:

The University of Waterloo is a prestigious institute offering a range of courses, from undergraduate to postgraduate, as well as special courses for special children. The eligibility criteria for admission to these courses are outlined below.

Undergraduate Courses

For admission to undergraduate courses, students must be of a minimum age of 17 years. The University of Waterloo accepts students from a variety of backgrounds, including those from high school, college, or university. Applicants must have completed the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, with a minimum grade average of 70%.

Additionally, applicants must submit their transcripts of grades, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose. Those who lack the required credentials may be eligible to join the university’s Academic Preparation Program.

Post-Graduate Courses

For admission to postgraduate courses, applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Additionally, applicants may be required to submit transcripts of grades, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and a CV.

The University of Waterloo may also require applicants to sit for additional tests, such as the GRE or GMAT, depending on the course. Further, applicants may be required to attend an interview.

The University of Waterloo has three main residence complexes: Mackenzie King Village, Village 1 and Columbia Lake Townhouses. Mackenzie King Village is the largest residence complex and provides a variety of room types, including dorms, single rooms, double rooms and suites. It also has a number of amenities, such as a dining hall, a convenience store, a laundromat, study rooms and a games room. Village 1 is the newest residence complex and offers single rooms, double rooms and suites. Columbia Lake Townhouses are located on the edge of campus and offer three-bedroom townhouses with full kitchens and living rooms.

The University of Waterloo also offers off-campus accommodations through its Off-Campus Housing Services. This service helps students find rental accommodations in the surrounding community. The listings include apartments, houses, townhouses and rooms for rent. The university also has a roommate-matching database for students looking for roommates. 

For students looking for something a bit different, the University of Waterloo has a number of cooperative residences. These residences are student-run and provide an alternative living environment.
