Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible for the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program, 

  • You should be an Indian citizen residing in Delhi slum communities, where ASHA Society works.
  • Should hold the status of international student in Sydney and pay international fees
  • Have applied for but not yet commenced a postgraduate degree at the University of Sydney

Ongoing Eligibility

The ongoing eligibility requires you to maintain your academic performance to remain eligible for the awards. To be able to continue with the Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship,

  • You must maintain a minimum semester average (SAM) of 65.
  • You should have no outstanding fees.
  • You should be continuing with your full time or part time (if approved) studies 
  • If you wish to undertake an exchange during this period, you must achieve a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) as per your university.

Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship Amount

The Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship is valued at p to $100,000. The scholarship covers:

  • Annual living allowance of $12,000 per year
  • Textbooks charges and annual return flight to India – up to $4,000 per year
  • One Overseas Health Cover for the duration of program

How Does the ASHA Society Select Candidates

Selection Criteria

The Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship is awarded to students based on their academic merit, financial need as well as personal statement. These things could be assessed from your admission application to a postgraduate degree at the University of Sydney. Besides, the ASHA will work with the University of Sydney to identify potential candidates and make recommendations to Vice-President External Engagement (or their delegate) for their consideration. The External Engagement Vice Principal will then choose the final nominee for the scholarship. However, keep in mind that you will have an agreement with the ASHA to return to India post graduation.

Terms And Conditions For the Scholarship

The Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship maintains strict accountability standards through specific termination conditions:

  • Course Withdrawal: Your scholarship ends immediately if you withdraw from your enrolled program at the University of Sydney
  • Change in Student Status: Becoming a domestic student or switching to part-time study without prior approval results in scholarship termination
  • Academic Performance: Failing to maintain the required 65 minimum semester average mark leads to scholarship cancellation
  • Misconduct: Any form of academic or personal misconduct, as defined by university policies, results in immediate scholarship termination
