The Trudeau Foundation Scholarships focus on four key themes, and the students are expected to participate and contribute towards the same. Your doctoral research is expected to be in or around these four themes:

  • Visit the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s official website.
  • Go to the Scholarship section and register yourself.
  • Login to your account using proper credentials and navigate to ‘Funding Opportunities.’
  • Click on ‘Apply Now’ and begin your application.
  • Fill the form and ask your referees to fill in the reference forms.
  • Upload all the documents and click on submit.
  • Once submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation mail.
  • If selected, you may be called for a group interview, followed by a personal interview.

The applications for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarships generally begin in mid- September with deadlines falling around late November or early December. Candidates are notified about selection in the month of January with February and March being the time for interviews. The applications for the 2025 competition ended on Nov 25th, 2024. After successful application to the scholarship, you will be notified about your selection. If you are selected among the semi finalists, you may be called for round one group interviews. Further, there will be round- two interviews with members of the selection committee and the selected student finalists and the decision is made.

  • References: There should be at least 3 references; one from a PhD  supervisor, one from an academic referee and lastly from a non- academic referee. The non- academic referee cannot be a family member.
  • Interview: Study the foundation values and try to align your research based on the same. Your interviewer will basically focus questions around this to evaluate if you are the best fit or not based on presentation and group discussions. 
  • Focus on your language: The interview will be held in English or French, depending on your preference. But make sure you showcase proper fluency in them and make use of a professional tone. 
  • Plan and Organize: Begin your application process well in advance to avoid last-minute stress and to give yourself ample time to prepare each component. This will also give ample time to your referees.
  • Demonstrate your fit: Gain a thorough understanding of the foundation’s mission, values, and previous scholars. Ensure your application clearly demonstrates how you fit with the foundation’s goals and how you will benefit from and contribute to the community of scholars.
