Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Courses

• Minimum academic requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed five academic subjects in high school, however, this set of papers should align with your choice of course in UG. The minimum GPA requirement is 2.0 or above.
• English language proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level of proficiency in English, as it is the language of instruction at the University of Alberta. This may involve submitting scores from standardized tests such as the TOEFL or IELTS.
• Prerequisite courses: Some programs may have specific prerequisite courses that applicants must have completed in order to be eligible for admission. These courses may be required to ensure that applicants have the necessary foundation in relevant subject areas.

The application dates for all undergraduate scholarships closes in the month of January.

Admission Based Scholarships: Admission based scholarships are merit- based scholarships offered to students upon their admission.

• International Admission Scholarship– The top students can receive up to CAD$ 5,000 depending on the admission average. 
• Regional Excellence Scholarship– The top students from specific regions can receive up to CAD$5,000 depending upon the admission average.
• Gold Standard Scholarship– The top 5% students from each faculty can receive up to CAD$6,000 depending on the admission average.

Application Based Scholarships: The students who are confused about which scholarship to apply, they can apply for this application based where there is one application for all. 

• President’s International Distinction Scholarship– A scholarship of $120,000 CAD intended for students demonstrating exceptional academic performance.
• International Leader Scholarship– Students with superior academic years are eligible to receive up to $15,000 CAD.
• May Quon Undergraduate Scholarship– A total amount of  $1,000 CAD for students who are Chinese or Hong- Kong citizens with a superior admission average.
• Cora Martinson International Scholarship– A sum of $ 56,000 for students with excellent academic achievements payable over 4 years.

Transfer Scholarships: The transfer scholarships special opportunity to avail scholarships for students entering a professional program or transferring from another institution. The application starts from the beginning of February and ends by the end of March. Graduate Scholarships

• University of Alberta Graduate Recruitment Scholarship– An amount of $5000 in increments to students with an admission GPA of 3.5 having application deadlines in the months of March, May, July and November respectively for the four intakes.
• Graduate Student Engagement Scholarship– The scholarship amount of $10,00 to be paid to students with good academic achievements, leadership and others. The deadline for this scholarship is in the second week of October.
• University of Alberta Graduate Entrance Scholarship– A fixed stipend of $17,500 along with an additional $10,000 to cover fees with the deadline in the month of April.
• Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize– An award value of $ 5000 to be paid which has an application deadline around the second week of March.
• Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES)– An amount of $ 12,000 to be paid to a full- time registered student with GPA 3.3 with a deadline to submit nominations in the month of November.
